Present perfect with "for" and "since"

Today we learned how to use "for" and "since" with present perfect. 

We use "for" to talk about a period of time (duration).

It answers the question "how long"?

He has had this car for three years.

We use "since" to talk about a specific time in the past.

It tells us when something first happened.

He has had this car since 2013.
