Natural Science books!

We are going to be reviewing for the Reválida. If you have your Natural Science books from last year, please bring them to class. If you have any other Natural Science/Conocimiento del Medio books (even in Spanish), you can also bring them.

First Aid Project

Option 1: First Aid Kit

You must explain what ítems we should have in a basic first aid kit. You should say what each item is used for. You must include at least ten items.

You can: (Choose one)

--Make a video. Show each item and explain it.  

--Make a PowerPoint

--Make a poster. Draw or find pictures of the items and write about each one.

--Make the items out of plasticine, cardboard, or other materials to display them. Write about each one.

--Bring the first aid kit (with real items) to school and display with information about each item.

Option 2: What to do in an emergency

Choose 2-3 of the situations we discussed in class and say what to do.

You can:  (Choose one)

--Make a poster       

--Make a PowerPoint        

--Make a comic     

--Make a brochure (folleto)

 You must hand in your project by Monday, 22^nd May.

You must do the project individually (not with a partner).

Your project must be in English, but you can get information from these websites:

First Aid

What is First Aid?

First Aid is the help we give to someone who is hurt, while we wait for emergency services or professional help (if necessary.)  Anyone can do it!  You just need to learn a few simple steps.

It's a good idea to have a First Aid kit at home-- you can make one yourself!

Natural Science test

You have your Natural Science test on Unit 3: Reproduction on Friday, 5th May.

We will correct the review sheet in class on Thursday (6ºB-- we will do Natural Science instead of Social Science on Thursday.)

You must study:

--The diagrams of the male and female reproductive systems (label and explain what each part does.)
--The chart on page 40 about the different life stages
--The two types of sexual characteristics (primary and secondary) and when they appear
--The menstrual cycle
--Puberty changes in girls and boys
--Genes: what they are and why they are important

Respiratory and Excretory Systems

Nutrition Project

You are going to do a project about one of the processes of Nutrition.

--Individually or with one other person

--Make a video and bring it to me on a pendrive. You can use a mobile phone to record. If you cannot make the video at home, we can make it at school, but you must let me know as soon as possible if you need to do it at school.

--If you work with a partner, both people must speak in the video.

--You must include all of the parts described in the question for full credit.

--All projects must be handed in by Monday, 13th of March.

There are five options:

Option 1: Digestive System.

Using your Digestive System poster from Art, explain the steps in digestion. (Do not read the words from the poster—you must speak without reading.) Include information about the epiglottis, bolus, pancreas and liver.

Option 2: Circulatory System

Make the heart project (ask me for the photocopies) and use it to explain the process of circulation. Include the path of blood through the heart and the two types of circulation (you can use another diagram or picture as well.)

Option 3: Respiratory System

Make the lung model from this video:

Use it to explain the process of inhalation and exhalation. Then use another diagram or picture to help you explain the process of respiration.

Option 4: Excretory System

Make a model of the urinary system and use it to explain the process.

Nutrition Project: Healthy Habits

Make a brochure (folleto) or poster about healthy habits for each of the four systems, and explain them.

Food diary project!!!!!

Remember, you have a food diary project that will count as a test grade in Natural Science.

It has three parts:

-- a food diary that lists everything you eat in three days
--a food pyramid to help you analyse your diet to see if it is healthy, and a personal reflection about your diet
--a food diary proposal for you to create a healthy diet plan for three days, using the information from the healthy diet pyramid. On the back is a grading rubric that I will complete.

6ºA must hand in the project to me on Wednesday.  If you have any questions or need any of the worksheets, you can ask me on Monday.

6ºB will receive the third worksheet (food diary proposal) on Monday. You must give it to me on Friday.

Tenéis un proyecto "Food Diary" que cuenta como un examen en Naturales. Tiene tres partes:

--un diario donde tienes que escribir todo lo que comes durante tres días
--un pirámide alimentaria para ayudarte a analizar tu dieta y hacer una reflexión personal
--una propuesta de dieta sana para tres días aplicando la información del pirámide. En la parte de atrás hay una rúbrica de evaluación

6ºA lo tiene que entregar el martes. Si tenéis preguntas o necesitáis alguna ficha, me lo comunicáis el lunes.

a 6ºB os doy la última ficha (food diary proposal) el lunes y me lo tenéis que entregar el viernes.
